The charity, The Friends of Fotheringhay Church, and the Parochial Church Council (PCC) are leading the project, “Building for the Future”. They are committed to ensuring that Fotheringhay Church not only maintains its important place in history and its prominence in the physical landscape, but becomes a Church of significance in today’s cultural landscape and be ready to meet the changing needs of the 21st century community it serves.

The project seeks to raise a considerable amount of money for –

  • Restoration – Preserving, restoring and updating the fabric of the Church
  • Facilities – Making the building more inviting to visitors by improving its facilities : installing a heating system, a disabled toilet/toilets and a servery for refreshments. Creating a disabled access and updating the electrics and lighting both in the Church and along the tree lined avenue to the north porch and purchasing cushions for the pews and replacing the carpets.
  • Arts and Music – Developing and capitalising on this magnificent backdrop by promoting the Church as a significant cultural facility for music and the performing arts.
  • Heritage – Opening up the Church to a wider audience of all ages, so that people can learn more about the exciting history of both the Church and Fotheringhay village, including creating a heritage trail around the village, increasing the frequency of tours, talks and lectures, and creating attractive displays
  • Educational Experience – Promoting cross curricula workshops within the Church for children from primary schools
  • Worship – Enabling more people to worship by making the Church more accessible with its enhanced facilities
